Visayan Style Corto Kadena Larga Mano Eskrima

Hosted by Gregory Manalo of Rooted School & Jay Pugao of Visayan Eskrima

VSCK Eskrima focuses on precision, elusiveness, blade manipulation, timing and distance management. The hallmarks of VSCK are that it's blade-based, it values movement and evasion, randomness and improvisation, and its footwork is centered around the moro style that is characterized by its low stances. In the early stages, VSCK focuses on foundational fight principles then progresses into fight strategy and tactics. Expect a full arsenal of various lengths and variations of weaponry to move and flow with.

Mandala Mandirigma Derobio Eskrima

Hosted by Maestro Alvin Albano

Derobio Eskrima is a sword-based art that seeks to redirect incoming aggression as well as neutralize the intention to harm. As a cultural martial art with deep history, it is handed down to future generations for use in self-defense and self-enrichment. Students first learn the movements with sticks, but the bladed concepts can also be applied to the use of improvised items as well as unarmed defense. Derobio is also known for its many locks and disarms.

Kamatuuran Kali

RESCHEDULED: OCT 31ST 11:45 AM

Hosted by Gura Michelle Bautista

Kamatuuran Kali is style that focuses on teaching students how to fluidly switch between styles, movement, and weapons to be like water. Kamatuuran is a Visayan word meaning truth. Using Filipino psychology elements like Kapwa Tao, to understand the how and why of movement. It distinguishes between feminine and masculine energies and applications leveraging the power of both to create a style that is just as powerful and effective from 8 years old to 80 years old. Inspired by a lineage teacher known only as the Blind Princess Josephine, students will practice movements to learn to access their full senses and basic hand and foot movement.
