Kapwa Cares
"Kapwa Cares" is a fundraiser event for several SOMA Pilipinas organizations that have felt a large negative impact because of COVID19, including Bindlestiff Studio, SOMA Pilipinas & Kultivate Labs.
The past year has been hard for the AAPI community in San Francisco. With AAPI hate crimes peaking in 2021, Kindred Kapwa & Kapwa Gardens wanted to provide a safe space and a fun event for people to spread joy and heal through community, comedy, and music. There will be stand-up comedy, DJ's and a special musical performances.
The event begins at 2pm and ends at 7pm. Doors open at 1:30pm.

EVENT SCHEDULE:
2-5pm: Family friendly musical performances. Ending with AJ Rafael!
5-7pm: The Grown & Sexy / Bastos Comedy portion of the show (Suitable for ages 17+ aka Earmuffs kids!). Ending with Rex Navarrete!
Musical Headliner:
AJ Rafael currently has 1.04 million YouTube subscribers and uploaded 567 videos on YouTube. The AAPI musical artist has produced several hits over the years, such as “Without You”, “We Could Happen” and “Like Me,” among others. Rafael and his fiancée, Filipino American singer Alyssa Navarro, were recently featured on “Good Morning America” for their viral “TikTok duets,” where they showcased their talents in music while in a work-from-home setting.
Comedy Headliner:
Rex Navarrete remains to be one of the hardest working, relatively unknown American comedians today though he’s performed alongside notable national headliners such as George Lopez, Russell Peters, Ali Wong, among others over the past three decades. His most popular DVD, "Badass Madapaka", was filmed in front of a sold-out crowd at the Wiltern Theater in Los Angeles. Currently he travels internationally throughout Asia, Europe, Australia, Canada and for the US Armed Forces bringing his brand of "Pinoy" humor to a wider audience. You may have seen him on "Lopez Tonight", "Live at Gotham", "MyxTV" and "MTV Philippines".
